New House

Our offer for a house was approved!! We’ve been looking at houses for a while but the market has been crazy lately. I’ve finally started getting emails from Zillow that houses are dropping in price and staying on Zillow for more than 2 days so we decided to start shopping around.

It’s teal on the outside and has window planter boxes! Also there’s not a landlord and we’ll actually be using our money for us instead of paying someone else’s mortgage.

Our landlord says we have a lot of stuff and there’s some merit to that. Me and Toi both grew up kinda poor so now we have a lot of stuff now that we actually make decent salaries. And we don’t even have that much stuff. It’s just all crammed in a 2 bed apartment so it looks like more than it is. The house we’re looking to buy has more space so we can not be so crowded and both have a office!

Big Changes

We got approved for a house loan! So now we’re just trying to find the perfect place! The market is finally calming down so I figured it’s a good time.

I’m looking forward to finally being able to plant and paint without needing permission!

My dad keeps trying to convince me it makes more financial sense to just keep renting because we don’t have to pay property taxes or repairs. I’ve asked him when the last time he called a plumber is and he never answers. Bold words from someone who doesn’t pay rent and has never had a mortgage.

New Additions

We’ve been wanting to get some kind of pet for a while. I’ve noticed my mental health is usually better when I have someone else to take care of so we’ve been discussing adopting a cat recently.

We ended up getting guinea pigs!

Our apartment is usually on the messy side so we figured it would be easier with an animal in a contained space. Also guinea pigs are super cute and not jerks who bit for no reason like hamsters XD

Ponyo is the fluffier one and Mandu is the one that looks like Neapolitan ice cream!

They’ve been settling in nicely so far! Their cage is in my office so it’s nice to hear them running around and squeaking when I’m stressed at work.

I got to tell my family I finally had kids 😀

Hello World!

This is my first official blog post so that’s exciting! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while but was very unsure how to go about starting.

Luckily, my partner is a computer nerd and helped a lot with this! I know you’re going to read this so thank you again my darling <3

I use she/they pronouns and Toi uses they/them, which most of my family still doesn’t understand. A big part of why we choose MN to move to is because of more rights for the LGBT. We made a list of states we would be okay living in and picked the cheapest, which was Minnesota. I’m glad we’re still in an “M” state though.

There’s been a lot of adjustment, from being more comfortable being ourselves in public and with family, to going outside and not immediately getting sweaty because it’s not as humid here.

Overall, it’s been a good first year here!
